The best one I've come across for a "supermarket" wash is the tomato paste wash. Great yeilds etc. But compared to dextrose it's pretty much on par with costs. Over here it's $35 for 50KG (concrete bag size) of dextrose and your yeast and turbo carbon is the biggest expense. I arverage 4.2-4.5L of 9...

Just had a look at your still, my father in law runs the same one. What comes off your first run is fine to drink after filtering. What you're talking about is double distilling which isn't needed. If you're talking the first 150mL pulled off the run, which it sounds like you are. Do not drink it. What comes off in the first legs of the run is full of acetone, methanol and a few other oils/alcohols you don't want to touch. 1mL if pure methanol is enough to kill someone.
