Re: Distilling unaired wash

Ok so iv seriously damaged my leg and I can't pick up my fermenter. To air my wash I usually tip bucket to bucket 5 to 10 times, I don't have a gizmo for a drill. It's been on the kitchen side for weeks now finished but not aired and it's nice and clear. What would happen if I distill it now, would...

Re: Distilling unaired wash

Yeah I was thinking that, it's been there for about 4 weeks so I was hoping I could maybe risk using it now.

I'll do than then but out of interest what would happen if I didn't do it?

Re: Cleaning an air still?

Ok then, I feel better now I know everyone is pretty similar.
Wasn't sure if people maybe put a bit of vwp or something similar inside the lid every now and then.
I'll continue as I am then, maybe use a bit of the heads to clean as curmudgeon suggests

Cleaning an air still?

I only clean my still with boiling hot water and nothing else, after every batch I take the lid off and pour hot water in the little hole 3 times.

Is that enough or should I use something else every so often? Guess I'm worried the hole might get clogged up at some point.

Re: Kale wash advice

Right guys iv finally got it down to 0, its been about 4 weeks now so I hope iv not left it too long.

How do I proceed to clear it now? Just degass and leave, or should I use turbo clear to speed it up.

Iv bought a fish tank heater so hopefully I will speed the next one up

Re: Kale wash advice

Success, the brew belts got it up to 28 degrees and its once again bubbling away. Heat pads look a little bit pricey for me so might go down the aquarium heater route
