Re: Christmas Gin

Not so much "christmas" but still seasonal IMO...... Got a sales email from Love Brewing the other day, and couldn't resist....... It was for a pack of Still Spirits "icon liqueur" Gingerbread gin liqueur, a pack of "Southern Smooth" (SS clone of Southern Comfort I believe) and a pack of "Cafelua" w...

Re: Mashes failing one after the other, HELP!

{snip} Opposed to some on this forum, I am an advocate of standard household bleach, it kills everything, but does take some serious rinsing. But does get plastic clean. {snip} which highlights why most of us have learned to avoid bleach (or ANY hypochlorite based sanitising) i.e. it's very persist...

Re: Mashes failing one after the other, HELP!

Thanks for all the tips and advice, and for you, Mash for identifying the nasty SOB! Tbh I'd never heard of it before! I googled it until my eyes bled and I'm 99% sure that you're correct. I'm going down the "clean it until it cries for mercy" route before I throw stuff away. I've also revisited my...

Re: Hard water deposits on the base of T500.

Hard water here too.

I don't bother with it, I just get 25ltr cans of RO (reverse osmosis) water from the aquarium shop for £3.50 per fill up ( obviously, with no fish minerals)..........

Works a treat IMO.......

Re: Juniper brandy anyone?

{snip} I could eat a deep fried a mars bar, but have never been tempted. Robert. I have  we found a chippie in Helensburg when we were in the sub base for the weekend, a good few years back. Seem to recall being 9 parts pissed and still thinking YUM (twas certainly a change from a "messy...

Re: So, I went and got legit...

I really do not want to piss on your parade. I sincerely wish you well with your venture. {snip} Just saying it as I see it. Robert. After reading ED's post, it reminded me too. I've delivered quite a bit of NGS, as we have about 4 or 5 craft rectifying companies locally. Can't say about how the ac...

Re: Juniper brandy anyone?

Juniper brandy? have you not heard the "maxim" of......... "just because we can do something, it doesn't necessarily follow that we should "   I just fail completely to be able to follow how those two particular flavour properties could match in any way - all I can imagine is a mega ...

Re: So, I went and got legit...

Dreamt about this for maybe 10+ years, but not down the R&C route. I originally researched a full distillers ticket as I wanted to have more of an influence with the base spirit (legacy grains and potatoes was the idea). Unfortunately, it was too far out of my price range then, and still is now so i...

Re: Tasting notes

To do that sort of thing (tasting notes etc), you need to have a "good palate". So that's me out then. It's why I just stick to my own tried and tested methods i.e. double distilling and carbon filtration. Not sure if a crap sense of taste is too many years smoking or what. I've always preferred the...

Have you got a link for the stainless needle valves please ?

Cos I'm still procrastinating about column designs and a decent sized boka would be fine..........
