Tanqueray Bitter Orange Gin.

Post by gaza the instructor » Mon Mar 18, 2019 7:03 pm

I am not even going to try spelling that again, make to many cock-ups anyway.
This is one of the finest flavoured Gins I have tried, but at £30loads a bottle.
Well you can guess the rest.

2lrs Neutral
1lt Water
20g Juniper
10g Corriander
3g Licorice Root
3g Angelica
Last but not least
10g Bitter Orange Peel

Yum Yum

Now, that looks a fine recipe, Is this your own creation.

Are you soaking/macerating the botanicals in the neutral for 12/24 hours and then running it through through an Airstill/potstill. What are your cuts on this.

Cheers

Yes its my own copy of the bitter orange gin.
According to the bottle there are four botanicalsand the orange flavour
is an essence.
I do not have any essence nor am I able to buy Seville Oranges, it seems
noone sells them. You can buy a bitter orange essence but its £13 a go.
So I loaded the Sputnik in the AS with bitter orange peel and botanicals.
I stopped collecting at 50% so had 800ml at 68%
I was using finished neutral at 40% so no cuts needed.
Its a great drink but I will have to buy essence to get nearer. You can
really taste the orange all the same and the licorice brings a touch of
sweeness to the party. Am happy for now and a bit pissed.

I have over 40 Gin experiments in my book, some very good some not so.
I think Gin is a personnal taste thing. One mans poison etc...
If you have an Airstill build a sputnik its my secret weapon. No distillers
Gin recipe is safe FEAR THE SPUTTIE its coming to a Gin Distillery near
you.
If you want to try some of these experiments let me know.

I am currently lacking the Licorice root and Angelica to try this one, but it certainly seems to have hit the spot for you!
