Has anyone used frozen fruit for infusions? I'd assume that seasonal would be better but does it still impart enough flavour? Or even tinned?!

not tried infusing but it works really well if you cook it down strain and reduce to a really thick concentrate to add to things

Question re sloe gin. have made this for many years and it has never once made it past new year, however having the as has allowed me to make way more so reckon some might survive the festivities - so do i strain off the sloe and bottle or just leave it all sitting in the demijohn hidden from my daughter - she's such a lush sometimes :)

Sloe Port
Postby gaza the instructor » Tue May 24, 2016 3:44 pm

Can not remember where I read this one !!
After filtering your Sloe Gin Dont take sloes
out of your jar.
I being greedy made 4 liters so 1 kilo of
sloes.
Added 3 bottles red wine
300g sugar
Seal and shake, shake every day for a week.
Then shake every couple day for 6 more
weeks.Filter into bottles leave some head room.
add 200mls Brandy.
I added Rum to one of mine and 300mls at that.
The Brandy Port Was nice But Dont know how to
put this the Rum Port was Magic ;D
Rather have a full bottle in front of me
than a full frontal lobotomy

I strain mine off. Make it in an 8l kilner dispenser thing [might be 5] leave it for a few weeks, strain and adjust the taste before bottling...

BM / The Range etc often have them on special. Brilliant for fruit infusions.

Replace the tap for a stainless one.
