Cork gasket sheet sold in motor cycle shops are synthetic. They contain cork but also rubber, the very thing that you are trying to replace.

As a motorcyclist and ex NW200/ULSTER GP competitor I should have know better and said get a natural cork gasket [best for older aircooled two-strokes] and not the nitrile impregnated type.
Happy YHB?

From what I can see the standard seal is rubber and that would not be recommended.

They may be silicone which may be more acceptable.

If they are rubber and you want to replace them with silicone, you can buy both types here.
