When I was in the game, if they couldn't be sold as stock feed they went to Pringles

Indeed they do and give that either 2010 or 2011 they won the "best vodka in the world" medal, it means that they can sell it for about £35 a bottle.

But, the distillery founder had a bit of a bonus, he was a spud farmer. From what I've read the distillery was only started because they grew the spuds and needed to "add value", so they started Tyrell Crisps.

I'm guessing but if you've ever delivered bulk spuds to places that make crisps or pre-cooked/oven chips, you'll know what happens with loads that don't make the grade and are rejected (animal feed more often).

So if they found that the portion of the spuds that weren't suitable for the crisps needed to be used for something better than animal feed, then what else ?

Indeed, Vodka.

Don't know the total story currently but they sold the crisps business and it seems it's just growing tatties and vodka (gin as well I understand)........

I'm thinking use about 5kg-10kg potatoes, peel them, chop them, then throw them in the Grainfather and top up to 25 litres of water.

Then boil them for a while until soft before mashing them up with a drill thingy that plasterers use.

Once cooled to 66°c I'll add 2-3kg of malted barley and lett it all mash for an hour for the enzyme in the malted barley convert the potatoe starch to sugar.

Then depending on the SG I'll add sugar, enough to equal a total sugar level of about 1kg per 5 litres of wash, I'm going to do a 40lit wash, hopefully I'll only need 4kg of sugar, depending on what conversation I get.

But if it's really messy, it may not be repeated!!!!

I did have a bunch of "I was advised differently" T shirts printed up a while ago.
Let me know if you need one, and your size, I will see what I can do! :D

DAP or vit b - I don't use both. Just vit b and and the smallest amount of olive oil.

The latest research is moving away from DAP, and the overuse of it.
