I'm staying with the regular HBS fermenters because to me they're a bargain. Wide neck and handles and I can carry a full wash from one room to another.

They do seem pricey at first but Wilkos have them cheaper than the HBS and besides, they pay for themselves first wash.

Just had a reply, £6 each for two. That'll do me.

Now to try and work out how long 200 litres of mash will take to distill and drop through the painfully slow carbon filter lol

Thanks Alan. Still trying to get my head around all this cutting business lol but can't wait to start on other recipes.

I keep looking at the 10x100 litre barrels in the link MrCat gave. I have absolutely no idea what I would do with 10, but the Yorkshire man in me is saying its a bargain.

I'll have to give them a mail to see if they'll just do me a couple. Or even 1 will do lol

I bought a 60 ltr drum a few weeks back for my rum and sweet feed washes i mostly use bakers yeast i make up a yeast bomb with 100 gram yeast 1,tbs Dap
Epsom salt and citric acid boiled in a gallon a water I top up to 50 ltr and stir in 200gram yeast after a few days i top up to 55 ltrs

I have 60 litre fermenters and I use the 2 * Alcotec Vodka Star with no problems. I can't find the link but the only think they say is not to use too much sugar. I normally only use the suggested 6kg of sugar.

I've also done 2 packets of the Alcotec 48 in 50 litres which worked well but I prefer the vodka star these days (much cleaner)

Note that these are the only ones that I have tried - if you are using a different yeast then your results may be different.

Afternoon,

I've got two washes on the go at the minute and plan to buy a 50l bucket/bin to siphon them into once they are ready this weekend.

Just wondering if it would be ok to use the 50l to ferment a double recipe turbo wash instead of the 2 x 25l.

Suppose it's a bit of a daft question but my main concern would be heat build up killing the yeast.

At 7 quid a pop, I thought I best check for free lol
