I did a major messup with mine by forgetting to put the wash in. By the time I realised, it was dead.
Turned the boiler upside down and removed the cover. (Crosshead screws.) Both the reset and the thermal fuse read open circuit. (If you haven't got a meter, any form of continuity tester will do, even diy battery and torch bulb.) Obviously the boiler is unplugged for this.
Simply pressing the reset did nothing, I had to really go for it before it read closed circuit.
I bypassed the thermal fuse as I had a wash to do. DO NOT DO THIS if you are inexperienced with electrics/electronics. As the thermal fuse is not available as a spare part, the boiler needs to be returned to the HBS for repair.
