They have been mentioned a few times before and each time turn out to be brass. Its not the end of the world but if you choose not to have brass in contact with the spirits then you may want to consider tinning them with solder.
If you are looking for an all copper demountable connection then a cheaper way and a quicker way of breaking the joint is as follows:
Use a 54mm straight connector and solder it to the bottom half of the joint, in this case the column. This will then give you a 54mm socket for the condenser to fit into, I seal this half of the joint with a silicone band that I cut from mini muffin moulds from the pound shop, I got 12 bands for a pound and have never needed to buy more
To break the joint I roll down the silicone band - think condom - to remake the joint mount the condenser and unroll the band over the joint.
