If it is fully fermented and fully degassed, it should clear in a day or two. If there is a bit of gas left or the yeast is on its final few grams of sugar, it can take a bit longer. I've had a few lately that just would not clear, I suspect some sort of infection. I ended up tossing a couple.

I put finings in my wash yesterday and now my bucket is on the cold concrete floor
In my shed. Does it normally take long for a wash to clear?
Can't wait to do a proper stripping and spirit run

At my place I generally have my spirits in bottles with my own labels but if we have anyone new coming over who might be having a drink I have some JD and Absolute bottles that I fill so as not to raise any questions On one occasion I had to buy a bottle of JD as a friend of the brother was coming who was a long time JD man.

Don't Tell and Don't Sell are words to live and distill by.

I am sure you could and it is a nice idea, but please be careful. As well as giving all the male guests a drink, you are also announcing to them that you are making spirits, you may be in New Zealand where this is not a problem - if you are in any other country then perhaps you should give it some serious thought.

I'm getting married next year and would love to be able to make a drink I
Could give out to the male guests.
What I'm thinking is just something aged really nicely on chips of which I have the essensia
Ones an loads of jd smoking chips.
Do you think it at al possible to produce something nice enough for the occasion?

The last time I looked, the two part finings from Wilko's was basically the same stuff as Turbo Clear. It was half the cost and half the price but stated that it would take twice as long, i.e. 48 hours instead of 24.

I have just done 3 TPW's and used the cheaper Wlko's product, each time it cleared well in a lot less than the predicted 48 hours.

Somewhere,amongst all the posts on this site,I stumbled upon one where the poster said only use half of the bought Turbo yeast pack,per wash,to get less taste in the distilled product.
I tried this last night,(alcotec 48)and the wash is now trying to climb out of the bucket......

Back when I was using Gert Strands 24hr turbo, I did one wash during a heatwave. That's when I found out what 'fusel oils' really meant. I'd never had a worse hangover.

Conversely, I've drank plenty of airstill first runs using Vodka Star and no headache in the morning but they were low power runs, about 160w. For the morning after, I prefer it to Aldis cheapest vodka but as others have said, double distillation is way better.

It should be, finings are finings. I think the general consensus is that Sparkleoid is the cheapest for the best effect.

Well the turbo 48 I set off on Saturday morning is still bubbling away.
Now for clearing, would normal 2 part finings be ok?

mate, its all a learning curve. You are already asking good questions,trying to take cuts and use proper ferment temps.... and such...thats a whole lot more than I first did

IMHO, what you may want to try for (working with the excellent Mozr/Aidan guide)is to determine a 'process' that works for you, then stick to it for a while until you get it 'refined'.
So.....once you get a result that is 'ok',try to run a similar ferment and strip/spirit run and maturation process a few times, varying things only sightly (if at all). That way, you will be on a winner, experienced in 'quicktime' and more likely to try/succeed with further experiments.
Oh....and have fun too, (that's a key success factor).
