Forgive the newb questions but!!... have been looking into building as opposed to buying an upgrade to my airstill....unfortunately kegs in the UK arent cheap?.......

Do not appologise for asking questions.

Kegs may not be cheap but they are part of the solution which overall will be a lot less expensive than the other two options that you quote.

If you choose to use copper then the type of head or heads that you will make is the easy bit and can be assembled on your kitchen table, working with stainless steel is a little more difficult and makes the boiler more troublesome.

Solve the boiler first and the rest will fall into place.

It does mean you need a connector between the boiler and the base of the column but this is usually fairly easy to do.
