Are you familiar with the products from Copperhead distilling?

Gadget[/quote]

I'm aware of them only, have no personal although have been watching them for some years....
They keep turning over so there has to be a heap of them out and about.

Mr Four Square who posts here and was particularly active on the Cachaca thread has quite some knowledge of them - all good I believe.

I know that some of the posters in this topic have some great experience of better power controllers than the one that I am happy to use.
If one of them would like to steer this back on track, that would be good, as I feel it has fragmented into a total mess, and I don't even feel intoxicated! ;D

Robert.

If it is for elements less than 3kW I use the ZVS 16DV but build it into a box with a fan. I haven't tried any of the temperature controlled options because so far I have not been aiming at a specific temperature, I have been more interested in running at a specific power input.

I am sure the AVR is fine but previously I used the PSR25 or PSR40 modules for the same job.

The ZVT's are good with a control stability quoted at 1% so if you need precise temperature control then they will do very nicely indeed. Zero volt switching so no problems with mains or RF interference.

Thanks Myles, I was thinking about temperature control over power at the time and a few posts went through discussing that point so my mind started clanking away which is sometimes a bad move ;D still working on it...

In answer to the question of ventilation in my Jacobs box. When I'm running it, I leave the lid off, so that's one enormous hole for the heat to escape from! ;D

Didn't you realise Insp Gadget is loaded :o :o

Maybe he is.
What's the relevance?
I'm starting to see a light. And it's not one I particularly wish to see.......

Have no fear Packapoo I have long stopped worrying about things like that, I hope Ian's comment was not taken out of context, sometimes things said in jest get taken the wrong way. We all have different ideas and ways of doing things, I value everyone's input to my posts and my replies to other posts and hopefully learn a great deal in the process.

What exactly are you planning on doing with this controller?

The A26223 ZVT-25 (0-150°C) 230v looks like a thermostat more than anything, sure it uses a Triac to control the load, so maybe it has some kind of proportional control but if you just want a controller to reduce your power to your boiler, then the AVR is perfect for the job, I've used one for years.

Totally agree with the AVR, if you only want to buy something once, this is the way.

Thanks guys, unfortunately he asked what my intended use was and that was where I went wrong, I should have just ordered it online, As advised AVR-25 it will be, 7 day lead time so thats sorted.
