It is just as well that we are all different
We are all individuals.
( Brief nod to MP & TLOB there, you get it or you don't! )
I am amazed by some of the drinks that other folk often imbibe.
Soft or hard.

Interesting line of thought Curmudge....

Are you talking particularly rum here with your comment on a mash with more stout ingredients.... :-\

Didn't want to respond until I'd played some more.

I've done half molasses/half stout beer kit washes and "normal" rum washes with stout/porter added instead of water between stripping and spirit run and for me the latter is better, but your mileage will likely vary.

edit : these are unaged or with microwave aging. You know better than me that this could change immensely.

I was in a pub that is renowned for it's guinness and was reminded of the "late"/aftertaste with good mouthfeel in good guinness that I can never quite figure if it's chocolate/coffee/malt or something else and it reminded me of kraken, so I came home and made something.

What are you risking? ;D

I have 2 major problems within this hobby of ours. One is experimenting when imbibing and the other is not remembering what I did.

I plan in theory on buying in star anise and allspice that I don't have (not sure if pimento is a cherry pepper or allspice in the above mix) and actually taking notes as I try different concoctions. I'm sure I'll fail happily and have to repeat the exercise 5 times :)

Ingredients are Cinnamon (47%) , Coriander Seeds (20%) , Nutmeg , Whole Cloves , Pimento , Ginger.

I'm not a gin fan, so the coriander makes me nervous, but the rest looks good?
