Another plus 1 on not using finings.
Wait another day or so and then do it.
Save some cash and be a little more "natural".

I used finings always with vodka star yeasts untill one day I had no time to wait and forgot to put finings night before. So just put all wash into t500 and did striping run without waiting wash to settle or clear. Nothing changed. It came out as a good as with finings. So dont use finings any more. Of ourse after striping runs I always do spirit run

Got some nice copper from work cut it flattened it and bent it (work in an air con factory)

Copper definitely and if you are cutting down pipe - you need a few flat bits.

I through my ceramics out when they got grubby - never bothered since.

Good point RJ. There is a difference between settling and clearing. Wine and beer need to be clear. A wash just needs to settle.

Thanks for the information .going by my reading over the past few months the clearer the wash the better the output from my little air still will be. My sample jar seems to be clearing .i would consider this decent enough to run. Thanks for all the help folks

Interesting food for thought there RumJohn, like I said I've never had VS wash clear completely but it's never really bothered me while I was stripping anyway.

I ran a spirit run the other day right off the bat and it was good so I may be moving away from stripping. Therefore, I want to try and completely clear my washes. I'll see if my favouite SS Pure will clear completely and I'll report back.

Interestingly, a homemade Frankenstein wash I made with all sorts cleared out like this....

I don't use finings.

@Taity. A common situation I have observed on here is that people fail to differentiate between settling and clearing. In a pic you posted a page back, your large fermentation bin shows that the yeast is settling well. A later pic shows you are waiting for the wash to “clear“, when in fact you could have done a “stripping“ run, which is just that. A stripping run is done to remove remaining solids, colour, sugars if any, etc.

In a good and compleat wash, such as you appear to have achieved, when the ABV reaches 10 or 12 or even 14 % ABV, the yeast will die, action within the fermentation tank will stop and the yeast will settle to the bottom. But do not expect the wash to get clear like water. My washes are very dark when compleat due to a high molasses content used. Once the wash settles and the yeast hits the bottom it is very dark brown.

If I am honest, these days I do not wait for neutral washes to fall totally clear.
Whisky ones never get the time to.
I can just about see the bottom of the fermenting vessel before racking off.
That seems to work for me.

I'm New to this done a wash with turbo and strip / spirit run under my belt with air still. vodka star on my shopping list interesting reading the reviews here.
