How do you fix these clever little feckers?
Welding,rivetting or Super Glue?

Robert.

I had someone hold them in place with some mole grips then hit them with the oxy torch & some silver, hold them at about half open then that should give enough for a tight fit without being impossible to close. I was going to rivet them first & fill the hole in with silver solder but then I thought sod it, the solder will hold on its own & it made it a 5 minute job rather a half hour one

Thanks Benoit,
That sounds like the way to do it.
I have to admit that I may follow the path of Icefever, I never work harder or prettier than I need to. :D

And I took delivery yesterday of a large SS funnel from China land.
£3.28 delivered.
Bonkers.
Robert

+1 I'm with you there Mash, I've yet to have anything go missing & the price difference is rediculous. Ferrules & reducers that are £10-20 from HK are £60-70 if you want to buy British

I've decided to build a thumper to add onto my pot, as I now run more grog than vodka.

The rule of thumb about the size of a thumper seems to be that it should be half the size of the boiler. I run a 23/25 ltr charge, so a 12 ltr stockpot would be a safe bet...no puking??? fingers crossed.

I'm thinking that this would fit the bill??. I have enough bits of 15mm pipe about should be able to knock it up in a few hours.
