8 kG of Dextrose is equivalent to about 7.1 kG of ordinary sugar.

With the ordinary sugar your start SG would have been 1.109.

So by using the calc -- 1.109-0.988 x 129 = 15.6%.

Sounds about right to me.

It tells me that for 14% ABV the drop from start to finish needs to be 103/104 points (might be a little out but not far). I\'d guess than unless you\'ve got access to kit like a gas chromatagraph or other industry standard testing kit, then you have to rely on crunching the numbers and using the cheaper, less accurate type hydrometers (if you look up the price of accurate/certified versions you\'ll know the difference).
Just my couple of cents worth.....
