And Whimpy, if you stop using Turbo Yeasts and learn the art of cuts you wont need to filter. O0

presume you have to flush the column or something between runs ???

The T 500 hundred prices youve been quoted are mad, based on current exchange rates and what the going rate is over here a T500 should be less than $600 not $1000 Do you lot not get on with New Zealand ;D ;D ;D

The cost of the new still and column combined totalled $700.00 and I forked out for the stainless filter system myself..... The total cost of the T500 over here was just on $1000 so the new unit is quite a bit cheaper and also comes with a 5 yr Money back garuntee excuse the spelling..... to boot and it is made locally in victoria and after a couple of years use he asks you to send the kit back to him for a full service and a repacking of the column .... at his expense postage both ways included so to my mind this system is a complete winner from which ever way you look at it.

Cheers

^-^

So went to LHB Shop this morning and purchased the Pure Distilling outfit.... took me about 10 mins all told to setup and having the water running thru as explained in their brochure..... and didnt even have to change my existing lines.... Just took of the 13mm Fitting and the lines clamped straight on..... So no need for ugly green garden hose in the hose which will keep the mrs happy (Gotta love her) lol..... also purchased the Pure Distilling Stainless Still Filter as well.

Laid a mash down this afternoon..... So will report back here in 7 - 10 days with my results after my first run with the new setup..

Whimpy :)

I've been considering having a Stainless Steel filter vessel made by my welding buddy and I'd be very interested in what you've described but I can't find it online. Can you post a link where I can look at it?

Thanks

I tend to let my filter run overnight. Hope this helps a little

ps I am looking at up grading in the not to distant future to the Pure Distilling System which is only $100 more than the EZ Filter and is all Stainless Steel (including the spindle). Also the carbonfilter is twice the size in width and quite a bit smaller in height..... This filter will fit the EZ Filter system so I purchased one to try.... My guy here told me that he uses this bigger filter 2 - 3 times before getting a new one ( They are only $1.00 dearer than the carbon for the EZ Filter.

When this happens I will let everyone the results. :)

I tend to filter at 45% then do final adjust after with more filtered water
Try not to collect the priming water when you first put the spirit in or you'll end up over diluted
