I'm a bit wary of the "Whisky Flavour" banner - it's a bit like when a label says "Chocolate Flavour" you know there's no feckin' chocolate in it at all, just an E number that kind-of simulates the taste. ???

Let us know what kind of results you get but I'd try a small amount first and see what happens.

I have used similar BBQ smoking wood for making my JD. I got mine from B&Q at a price of £6 as they were on offer probably because of the bloody bad weather in the UK :)

I use 200g on 1.5ltrs of neutral spririt and leave for 10 days minimum. i then strain the contents of the jar through a coffee perculator filter and funnel. I prefer to add a little Maple Syrup to the spirit as well as this is my preference for a sipping bourbon (thanks aidenmac for this tip)

I believe the chunks can be used again but you will need to leave the neutral on the wood chips for about 25days.

This has been discussed on this forum somewhere just search JD in the search menu.

Good luck

Marks and Spencer recycled aging barrels. £5.99 a packet or one of my local stores has an offer on buy 2 get one free so it works out at £4.00 a packet of 400g.

They certainly smell the part.
