Here I have my own jack of all trades, Allinsons yeast.
Mash favours another brand.
I think that there is little between them, or another different one.
We can only suggest.
You have to try them and make your mind up.
In distilling there is much to learn and forget.

My favourite drink is Gin, with Calvados, Grand Marnier, Armagnac, Kirsch etc, etc for use in cooking. Handily, I bake my own bread, and use fresh, active dried and fast action yeasts, depending on which bread I am baking; can I ask which yeast is best to use? I also use quite a bit of Kale in some of my dishes. (I hope that doesn't sound too pretentious)

Orange whisky; yum, will research some recipes where I could use this...

Ooh, getting very excited now...

Depends what you drink.
Biggest quickest easiest win has to be with Jack Daniels bbq chips and a microwave. Search "nuke"

Next up get some bread yeast and some kale

A good play ground is gin. Lots to try. Search "sputnik"

Must get a gin drum, sounds like fun. ..and that's what is it all about "fun" - keep us posted.

Hey, good result!
If you are not fancying a neutral as such, try the Recipe section.
A good time of the year to experiment with fruit infusions.
I have Bullace gin on the go at the moment, a friend thought last Autumn that they were the biggest sloes they had ever seen and picked me a load.
I would recommend a stalwart of mine - Southern comfort.
Use the Search box top right of your screen.
It never comes out the same, due to varying amounts of Peaches,Lemon,Orange etc, but is always good.
So say all that drink it.
Anavrin described it as Orange whiskey.
If you fail to find the recipe give me a shout.

Mash will no doubt be along soon banging his Gin drum.
Once you start, there is so much to try.

I hope you find enough to occupy and entertain you here.

I thank you for your welcome Robert. Much obliged.

Although this is only my 2nd post, I have had an AirStill for these past 6 years, having only used it once early on in that time. I have been reading many threads over these last 5 days, in an attempt to re-acquaint myself with the distilling process and terminology; your posts being particularly helpful to that end.

I decided 2 weeks ago to clear out the loft area I had furnished, and came upon my Still and Triple distilled yeast packs etc, etc, etc. Everything being 6 years old.

Being a tight bugger, and having read from yourself and other posters that experimentation is very much encouraged, I decided to make a sugar wash using all the products I had in the loft.

10 days at a temperature of 23 degrees, and it was ready to clear, and put through the Still. I am now sitting with 6.5 litres of 40% proof liquid.

Now I am setting about reading even more posts, to find out what to do with it now. All suggestions welcome...

I think the bipolar disorder and/or the tertiary syphilis were at least as much to blame as the absinthe. Back then a substantial percentage of the French population were drinking as much absinthe as Van Gogh, but most of them didn't perform auto-aurectomies.

I have no excuse for Leonardo DiCaprio though.
