The yeast will procreate faster or slower to compensate for the difference in quantities it will only alter the length of time it takes.

Half a cup of yeast sounds a lot, so I presume you are talking about bakers yeast, I always use half a tin of Allison's, It's more than enough but cheap enough not to worry about.

What weight in grammes is half a cup of yeast? I'm worried about the difference in UK and US sizes and don't want to get this simple bit wrong.
