Cheers
Paul.
just thought of it this way,

1500ml bottle
750 alcohol @40%
750 water

So going by your way it works out

750 * 0.4 = 300
300 / 1500 20 which would by 20%
So Thanks
I will use your way
Cheers
Paul.

1400ml alcohol at 40%abv = 1400 x 0.4 which makes 560ml of pure alcohol.

Total volume including the alcohol = 2250ml

So abv will be 560 / 2250 giving you 24.89% abv

I think that's right but I'd wait for some of the resident experts to confirm

I guess I should have taken more notice in maths, but, I am trying to work out what the ABV will be for a drink.

I have the Still Spirits Top Shelf Summer Cup. It says to mix the essence with 1.4L 40% Alcohol then top up to 2.25L with water.

So am I correct in this maths.
Alcohol = 1400ml
Water = 850ml
Total Content 2250Ml

850/2250 = 37% water to the bottle
So I am watering down the 40% alcohol by 37%
So my ABV will about 15%

I have put this into an excel sheet to check out the maths, but is this along the correct lines?

Cheers
