A 4 litre still takes me 2 hr 15 mins. My current average electricity cost is £0.1318 per KWh, so one batch through the still costs £0.09.

I've constructed a spreadsheet with the various costs in that you can populate with your local costs if anyone wants a copy.

So after the two runs through your still you have between 3 to 3.5ltrs @ 80% to cut back and filter and 1.6ltrs to run again at a later date.I know it means a bit more time spent stilling and less spirit, but its well worth the effort IMO the qaulity is much better. The best idea is to buy the T500,once I can afford it I will.

So gaining 2 more bottles would be good, have never tried this and the only worry I had about it was that it would alter the taste.
Have 25L of Vodka star finishing today so will try the first run to 1.3L and see how it goes.

What I tend to do is just store it until I have 4ltrs to fill the still up.Another way is instead just run the still and collect about 1.3 ltrs this will be around about 50%abv.From your six runs from 25ltrs of wash you will have near as dam it 8ltrs @ 50% that gives you 2 fills of the still for a second spirit run.

My thought was, it would cost more to rerun than the benefit.

So, weigh up the cost factor, I did and bought a T500. :)

Mum now has the air still and is thinking about buying a T500 and her neighbor is asking about buying the air still. The cycle continues LOL

That guy collects his first 800mls or so as I do then he collects in another container for he quotes 1 hr 10 mins which gives him 525mls at 20% then puts it back through the still, he doesn\'t say whether he collects all his 525mls up to 4ltrs and puts it through or just puts it in his next 4ltr batch of mash.
Sounds like a good idea if it works as this would produce more spirits rather than throwing it down the drain as i do at the moment.
Has anyone else tried this method? and if so what was the outcome?
