well i took the plunge and bought the EZ filter, i am just worried that what ever leached out of the 2 dead bugs may have some how impregnated the ceramic, or even the carbon inside the ceramic filter. and for £1 difference (£48 for both the ceramic and carbon filters, or £49 for the EZ from wineworks), i'll go with the cheaper long term option (carbon in essencia dose 50L for £21, EZ dose 20L for £4) ;)

money is tight these days :-[

After my last couple of runs I have triple boiled and oven dried the charcoal filter and it works fine.

The problem is last week, 2 of them little small fly's made it past my venus fly traps :o , made it into the container, had a party, got drunk .... and well died. the problem now is the contents now tasts like crap, like some toxin has been released into the filtered 40% spirit :'( :'( .

my question is are both the filters shot?

at £48 (plus shipping) for both ceramic and carbon i am kinda thinking that this is not worth it and i am thinking a EZ filter may be a better option (£52 for the unit then £4 for a filter every 20L filtered) as i do not generally do many runs each year.

Your thoughts and views would be very appriciated :)
