There are too many variables for one persons numbers to match yours.
Your own numbers may become repeatable over time.

So my 1st spirit run is done. Collected 25ml for cleaner, 250ml for heads, 1000ml for hearts then went onto jars.

Collected 4 jars down to 30%...

So after 2 hours I've had a sniff of the hearts and 4 jars and all smell and taste the same.

Any ideas? Do I gin the lot?

I must admit despite my report above, my second spirit run had similar results to what you're reporting - much cleaner smelling tails.

It's your spirit, your decision. If you're happy with the taste now, you'll be happy with the final product. It's not going to be dangerous to add too much of the tails. Personally I decided to play safe and I put all the potential tails into my tails bin, next time around I'd probably trust my nose and taste.

We all try to give the best advice as we know it. There are many ways to skin a... good brew.

The difficulty for new guys is just that... Which line to follow.

Opinions and arseholes, we all have them.
Not becoming an opinionated arsehole is a little trickier. :o

make a good plantpot/football. Save your pocket money.
Buy an Essencia they are brill, but as your
skills improve and your product the same, you will
use a filter less and less.

Only filter after the spirit run that's been diluted to 40ish%.

However, some filter some don't, it's up to you, taste wise.

The filter that comes with the AS is shit but it does something at least.

If you have it, use it. If you want something better get an Essencia filter.

I have one I might sell you soon as I'm not sure I want or need it anymore.

Marc.
