I am rationalising my stills somewhat. I have a pot still that uses a 100 litre keg as a boiler.

2 of 3kW immersion elements in Essex Flange bosses, and a 22mm drain. The copper top has a fixed vane turbulator inside the bowl to try and direct the vapour onto the copper walls. This is all an attempt to get some natural reflux into the still. It looks a bit odd on that 54mm stem but there are 2 gated ports built in. 1 is a refil port and the other is an overflow for a thumper. The big diagonal condenser on the wall is a Friedrich's.
This is going to feed a 3 valve plate column mounted over a thumper - but I am still building that.
I also have a propylene glycol double boiler, but that is also getting an all copper inner pot. The outer pot is again electric, 2" thickness of expanded foam insulation topped off with a fibreglass skin. For now it is sitting in the other corner of the still room next to my 3" VM/LM column.

I have other bits on the go and will show them later. I will be putting a pot still up for sale too, check out the pot still section.Statistics: Posted by Myles — Tue May 07, 2013 11:42 pm
