I honestly think it cant be done cheaper that Alcotec turbo gold yeast @ £1.79 I have never used carbon while fermenting it and it does 6 k of sugar in about a 5 days the wash is virtually odorless, the spirit is completely odorless except for the smell of alcohol although I have never tried drinking it without filtering it.

Yes, exactly, but that\'s very cheap......actually isn\'t alcotec Gold the one that they seem to have discontinued ???? or am I thinking of something else...
Plus is there a website ? or is that better PM\'d ?
Sure, I\'m aware that some don\'t use carbon in the wash, I just like to stick to the "recipes" (such as they are) and locally I get the carbon packs for £1.20 a piece, so if I could get half a dozen or so packs of the yeast then it\'d work out cheaper and both me and some of the others might want to get it from the same place.

I totally agree, I\'m interested in people\'s costs hence the other thread - personally, because I have no home brew shop nearby it\'s been a while since I did a wash with anything other than what I can buy at the supermarket - although that still leaves a lot of scope, I did a decent tequila with onions recently which I keep meaning to write up properly!

Sure, I understand that Jimmy, but I was thinking along the lines of pooling what we\'re using as well as whether it seems that a particular turbo has carbon or not already in it, how much we\'re paying for whatever it is we use and then we all might enjoy the cheapest prices....
the websites would normally detail postage costs etc so it\'d be easier to work out how much it\'s gonna cost..... obviously there\'s a few things, like the cost of sugar, that are likely to vary depending on what\'s available locally, or there are those like yourself, you are happy to do tomato wash etc because it could work out a bit more costly, once postage/shipping etc are added.
I was just using the other thread as inspiration for a definitive list of who\'s got what and where, so it\'d be easier to just follow a link, check the price, and place an order.....
I\'m not sure if that\'s really duplicating what was asked in the other thread or not ? Or whether it\'s worth combining them so we do end up with a list (I understand that that\'s possible).....

I was thinking along these lines because of the recent threads/comments in the \"how much does it cost\" and the \"Alcotec 23%\" threads (along with the excellent input from Carlotto).
Now it\'s sort of up to whoever posts on the thread as to just how much info is available, but I feel that pooling info like that, and even stuff like X shop does free postage on orders over £50 is likely to be helpful as it gives us all the tools to make our wash as cheaply as possible.
I\'d like to know if you think that this is a good idea, because I think it\'s gonna be handy to know stuff like \"do I need to buy carbon to go with \"that\" yeast\", or \"they\" sell \"it\" for £3.50 a pack, it doesn\'t need separate carbon, plus the offer free postage for orders of £50+ and discount for over £100, so I can get X amount for Y cost....... I\'m sure you follow my thinking....
regards
P
