2)Get a pot head Buy one, build one but get one. Do a full heat/ full cooling strip run of whatever wash you choose in pot mode. Then change to the reflux column and run it slowly through. No carbon filtering required. Saves the number of times you have to clean the saddles in the column too.
2) Get better water control Even with the needle valve they now supply the T500 is a bugger to drive. Small adjustments can bring large fluctuations in cooling temperature. And other times endless fiddling produces bugger all change. I bought a gatevalve and mickeyed up couplings to fit the hoses on. Never looked back. Dial up the sweet spot and adjust for reflux.

Also got myself the EZ filter, it looks very handy. I will probably be thinking about buying the pothead in the future..
