Water freezes, Ethanol doesn't in a domestic freezer.
I am struggling to to see where this discussion is going.
Do it/try it or don't.

Got me thinking now, I think it could work if you drained it through a sieve but not sure if it would freeze enough of the water. Could be worth a trial if I can get the missus to let me in her canteen during the season break.

It would be worth a test. But it does sound messier than turning the bucket upside down.

Never freeze stripped but I used to make apple jack, back along.

We mix up a base of an apple juice solution like cordial and water, when added to the machine it freezes the water and not the solution so you are left with little ice drops in the liquid. As long as you keep the agitation going it doesn’t freeze solid. Stop the stirrer and it turns into a solid block of ice.

All that said....

How does a slushy machine create the particles.. Are they frosted sugar crystals or would it do the same with just water?

Not sure it could be easier but it is a patience thing. Takes longer than you think to freeze solid. Sometimes it does "polo".

It comes out easy enough, I wait about an hour and test/taste the drippings.

My freezer is -15c (any colder is unnecessary - for anything)

Expect to get 10-12l out @ 30% ish.

was thinking you might get easier separation from a slush compared to a solid block. The only time I tried this I put the wash in freezer bags and not in 1 solid block.

Ours is a stir and coil machine for use in the canteen we run, no good for stripping as if you turned off the stirrer it would freeze it solid but you won’t be able to get it out. dinks only I think

I have to say I do all my washes this way saves an enormous amount of time, not sure the slushy will freeze it hard enough.
I freeze it till solid and then invert it over a bucket for 60 mins or so.

Drum with agitator, with freezer coils or ice and salt. This could be a real option.
Think over sized ice cream maker. As kids we used to hand churn ice cream that was cooled with ice and salt.

I have a slush puppy machine, it’s great in the summer. Add a bottle or two of vodka to the mix and your all set. Just have to keep the kids away from it lol.

I had a go at it with 10lts of TPW last week as an experiment, after I thawed out my bid orange icy pole I ended up going with a strip run. I am not ruling out having another go but might wait until I got the process of stripping and spirit runs down a bit more first. Still learning and trying so all good.
