Good point! I rinse my mortar and pestle in neutral after the crushing and pour this into the still.

To crush Juniper berries I place them in a plastic bag.
I then place the bag on a wooden board.
To lightly crush,I smack them once with the side of a hammer.
You can see where this is going...

I then feel obliged to rinse out the bag to extract any lingering flavour.

Ok. There is little chance of this batch being muted. I have blitzed them a bit too much.

I have a mortar and pestle that I use. You just need to open them up. You can do them whole, but the effect is more muted so you need more.

Yup. This is another recipe that says lightly crush. They always seem to fight me. What's the best way?

When wanting to macerated these I have squashed, rolled and blitzed the little brighters.

Is there a knack or trick I am not aware off?
is it necessary, or can they soak whole.
