Can anyone help me solve this problem? I only make Vodka and Scotch whiskey using 'Still' essences but I have noticed that I always seem to end up with a dark sediment after a couple of weeks on the bottom of a bottle of whiskey. It does not happen with the Vodka for some reason (perhaps I should swallow the whiskey quicker lol)But this is happening frequently. The vodka and scotch are coming from the same wash so, its not as if its because they are being distilled from different washes.
Im using 'Vodka Star' and have been for a few months now but it was also happening with the 'Stills' yeast so, Im baffled.
By the way, I am having better results with the Vodka Star, I have found it smells better whilst fermenting and I have noticed a better result after filtering (polishing). I was warned before using VS that it tends to leave an after taste but I have not found this at all. I also experimented using a liquid carbon but it made no difference what so ever. A little slower than other yeasts but all in all the resulsts have been overall better.
