if using as a stop for a more granular packing material then such a long length isnt perhaps needed..
if using just the copper mesh i rammed a roll into a column just under 4ft in length using a length of stainless steel tube tho a broom handle would do just as well, its a very effective packing and according to my hydrometer at 20C lets me pull out 97% ethanol with a boka head. (the hydrometer is probably out a tad.)

In my opinion there's really no benefit to having copper in your column during a spirit run
Watch out for copper coated mesh on the web being sold as real copper

If anyone's interested the same seller has some home made cooling coils but they're £40 and not double wound by the look of them.
