Before bottling I set teabag paper that I get for free over top of jars.

I love the jars with a hole cut out of centre of lid and muslin or whatever placed in, but I can't be assed.

Dont know about you guys but they

Air mine for 3 or4 days at full
strength. It does help to mellow
the spirit taste (esp Rum).

Personally I never cover, and if a critter decides to die happy in a jar or bottle, I just filter it out. Shout at it, for the extra work, and throw it on the fire for instant cremation. ;D
Airing 40% spirit is time consuming, I would not bother.
Ambient temps and airflow will have an effect at any percentage.

Question, is the neck to small to air properly or would it be better in a more open container with more surface area open to air.
