Talking of dead spiders AM,we were on holiday in France many moons ago,a lot of the locals used to sell brandy from their homes.
We stopped at a house advertising brandy for sale, rang the bell , a little old lady came to the door,we said brandy for sale? her little face lit up "a oui" she beamed, and led us to her garage which was full of un branded brandy,we had a testing session which was very nice, made our purchase and left.
When we got back to our campsite and and tried the the 00brandy it had a spider in the bottom of the bottle! it and tasted crap!
I bet that little old grandma made a nice living ripping the tourists off,oh happy days!

regards lucky

Thanks for the quick reply's, the spirit is in 1g glass demijohns, half to three quarters full and stored in the dark at room temp.

Its probably oxadising, I have done the same thing with vodka star and did not see a color change.

I can only think it has taken colour from its container, glass or stainless steel is best.

Made the usual lentil wash,5k sugar, 500g lentils, 50g bakers yeast, up to 5g ferment, rack, add finings, leave to crystal clear, ran striping run in t500 chucked first 100mil then stored for a couple of months and it started to turn a pale yellow color.

Has this happened to any one else? don't know if its some thing to do with the lentil wash, or some reaction to storing high abv

It will probably be OK when I do the spirit run, just wondering what made it go the color of piss! no tittering in the back please!

regards lucky.
