TPW is not a Turbo so you don't need to use activated carbon in it - something to be avoided if at all possible - definitely a good clean neutral recipe.
Many around these parts also like Vodka Star because it's not a turbo yeast (despite what it says on the packet) and also does not require activated carbon.
Don't pay any attention to what the manufacturers say. Look up the experiences of others here and you'll see the manufacturers are only after your money
Ask any questions you like, we're a friendly lot around here and you'll always find help available.
So, in answer to your Q, TPW is a good wash to make as is Vodka Star not because they're cheaper but because they're cleaner and produce far superior neutral alcohol for the distiller - that'll be you.
