StillSmartHome distillation made easy!2012-12-08T11:56:13+00:00http://www.stillsmart.co.uk/forum/feed.php?f=13&t=14052012-12-08T11:56:13+00:002012-12-08T11:56:13+00:00http://www.stillsmart.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1405&p=10974#p10974
While my morning cuppa is brewing, I get the airstill emptied and rinsed, then loaded up with 4L of wash. Plugged in and on a timer, just 5 minutes of my time goes into running it.
With the new machine I'll need to be in most of the day to see how long a strip run takes at say 160 watts. Only need to do that once though.
I found a 100ml measuring syringe and it works well for rinsing the tube.

Best of all, I can use it to strip the wash for my Burco still once it's ready. 6 x 5 minutes which is less time than assembling the Burco.
For now, I'm using it the same way as the other one, almost an hour at full power for warm up then down to 175 watts. Product is 10% stronger (~58% now) and virtually no 'homebrew' taste or smell. I can see double distilled product being amazing.
The instructions that come with it are a joke. No mention of foreshots. It does however say to clean the condensor tube after every run. How many of you are doing this?
