Hi all,

Just a quick note, I've had messages from various people telling me that something has been going on - for some reason I'm not getting notifications so I wasn't aware I had PM - apologies for the delay.

I don't know what's been going on as I don't have enough time to go through these forums at the moment never mind any others! Obviously a few noses have been put out of joint in different locations, these things can happen.

However, can I please ask that we keep such things away from here? The whole point of this site in the first place was to avoid such behaviour. If someone says something you don't like, turn the other cheek, it matters not. I think you can even set them as a 'Foe' in the control panel and it'll hide their posts, but that's probably overkill.

I know we have a good bunch on here, but I really don't have time to police things so unfortunately if things start getting out of hand then I'll have to ban people, and if it gets too bad I'll have to shut down the site. Hopefully it won't get to that stage but just so people are aware - if you can't say something nice, maybe don't say anything at all!

Once again, I know this isn't anything to do with the majority of users on here so please accept my thanks for your support and for your measured, calm approach. You're awesome. Cheers!

aidanmac, you dont know all the facts behind the recent "goings on" and I cant understand why your attacking 1 person that had nothing to do with the "goings on" at MD.
One thing I can tell you is that the same "goings on" happened at Aussie that happened at MD only month earlier, its why MD was born - as a sale's avenue.
There was two consistence's in all these "goings on" at both forums and it seems we all got Punk'd and things did Fester a little.
I can assure you of one thing though.
PMing members with threats of police action is considered a VERY low act.

Edit to add: Why did you even bring the whole "goings on" into this forum ??

I am saddened to see the drama unfold over at MD... had thought it was a sanctuary and was just starting to feel comfortable sharing there. now, not so much.

I kinda lost my cool over it last night as any who read MD will be able to see, I would like to point out this is "highly" unusual for me. I am very much a live and let live kinds guy but it hurts to see something so good go so bad so fast with little to no warning.

Anyways, here to learn share and hopefully laugh with like minded friends.

IMHO, the simplest way to avoid the vast majority of 'troubles' (as per certain other forums) is to avoid all forms of commercial interest/placement/dogma in forum discussions.
This forum does that consistently and admirably...and long may it continue to do so.

No worries AM. I think it is pretty well understood where you stand on this matter.

A bit of open honest communication never hurt anyone.

I'm trying to learn and don't need some a$%&hole giving me abuse because I ask the odd stupid question here and there! There are a substantial newbie's who have joined after me who will be in the same boat.

Everyone has to learn and the information given out on this forum is of quality and in a friendly manner.

Sorry about the left hook Scarecrow it certainly wasn't aimed at any respected distillers like your good self. In fact it wasn't aimed at anyone in particular at all.

However, I'm sure you know the troubled souls that constantly seemed to feel the need to rattle the cages over on MD but have now abandoned that home. Not to mention some of MD's newer additions who have a less than chequered history in terms of respectful forum activity in their past!

I would be wary of those troubled souls, et al, turning up in our house. We had a single hiccup here in the past and I don't think anyone enjoyed the experience.

This should not be interpreted as xenophobic in any way.

I know there are good people who have just walked away from MD out of pure frustration and they are very welcome to join us here, if they want to, but I won't be behind the door in saying I don't want the trouble makers who caused the whole mess over there to come here and many of us know who they are.

Hopefully this will end any misunderstanding or misinterpretation of my original post on this issue.

I have not forgotten either but that was one incident in all my time on this forum and my purpose here was different.

I have no interest in raking over the problems of others but nor do I want to see the causes turn up on our doorstep.

We have some fine distillers here from other continents but as a result of recent events elsewhere, which some members here may not be aware of, there are some undesirables on the move and I don't want our nice little forum inFestered by their kind of Punks.

Others may take a different view but that's mine
