Best way is if you have a spare bucket - once you think it has finished, syphon the liquid off into the other bucket and give it a damn good thrashing up to get the C02 out. Then you can either put Turbo Klar in or just leave it until you\'re happy it has settled - I\'ve also used cheap wine finings with no problem.
Supposedly the thing to avoid is leaving the wash sitting on the yeast sediment for too long as it can impart flavours into the spirit. I think this mostly applies to non-neutral spirits because in my experience it doesn\'t seem to make any difference for vodka - I left one for six months (cold over winter) and once it warmed up it finished fermenting and it was fine! There is no advantage to doing that by the way, it\'s just the way things went at the time.

I always leave my wash for 2 weeks. I have also tried the turbo clear. Both seem to look the same. The clear is suppose to remove yeast cells, solids and other unwanted compounds. So if leaving it for 2 weeks will it do the same.
I have one mate that leaves it for up to 2 months.
I have also tried carbon in the wash. Decently had more settlement at the bottom.

hi marc83,

if you\'re going to put turbo clear in then why wait for it to clear naturally? surely its one or the other, theres no problem with putting the turbo clear in once its cleared but it seems a waste to me.

Will i ruin my wash if i leave it to clear by itself??I have just started a wash this arvo and i am planning to leave it around 14 days...as opposed to 7 days which it says to leave it for,used a SS classic + Dextose wash.

Also,once i get it around 14 days,and hopefully quite clear,is it ok to put the turbo clear through as well?
