Sorry Ricky, I am going to call bullshit on that statement.
I've been round a continuous distillation site in Given, and up near Inverness. Both are like industrial chemical processing plants. the pots and columns were stainless steel, although there was copper catalysts to remove the sulphites you spoke of, I believe this is for flavour and not because stainless causes poising as you suggest.
