Basically, as the liquid inside is boiling, you get a lot of bubbles. Distillers Conditioner and ceramic beads or Copper Bits help to reduce these by breaking the surface tension - however, it is still possible to get puking. This is where the liquid forces the top off the still and makes a massive mess.
I have only experienced this once (and it was kind of my own fault). The lid on my still was lifting ever so slightly every now and then. Wasn't sure what was happening so I turned off the still and lifted the lid. In slow motion, I saw a drop fall from the lid and hit the still (boiling hot) wash. The second it hit, everything erupted and I spent the next hour cleaning up.
Whilst the beads and conditioner will massively reduce any chance of this happening, putting a wash that hasn't cleared, will increase the chances! Best to have a nice clean wash and save yourself the heartache.Statistics: Posted by PieOPah — Mon Jul 03, 2017 1:38 pm
