T500 and SS Super Reflux Similarity ?

Postby Iain » Sun Mar 30, 2014 5:03 pm

Well long time no post .. house moves (got one not on a water meter again :) )

Looking at a T500 and was wondering if the barrel section is the same as the SS Reflux .. ie. would a t500 lid fit on the SS Reflux and vice versa?

Hopefully someone knows !

thanks all

I've only just had my 500 but if it's any help I could measure the boiler tonight and let you know....from what I've seen on photos they do look the same.

Just had a look, the boiler is 1 ft across..(307mm) the seal in the lid is very wide...10mm so any boiler around that size I think it would be ok.

Inside of boiler is 285mm.

Can I ask what size the hole for the column is in the lid, I'm building my own column but may buy a T500 boiler

Any chance you can tell me the diameter of the hole in the t500 top?

I've got a 54mm compression fitting which is a tank connector the threaded part is similar to the diameter of the column so I was wondering if this would go through the hole

Sorry I cannot give you a dimension but the hole is sized to take a 1.1/2" BSPP threaded connector which is the same thread as the drain on the sink in your kitchen.

For anyone else reading this post and for the avoidance of doubt - I am talking about an English kitchen.

Think that's too small for my connector, domestic drains are 42mm, might go along the route of getting some of these 1 1/2 inch nuts, it would be easier to detatch the column with this type of connection anyway.

Might get one of these off ebay and solder the supplied nut into the bottom of my column

Looking good.

With that adaptor you could connect a 2" column to any lid.

It states that it for a stainless steel sink, it does not say it is a stainless connector, many are shiny plated steel, it may be worth asking the question, if it is ss then I think you are nearly there.
