ok guys a few questions about needle valves
the one ive got is too big and heavy so ive been searching,now most of them
what ive seen are off set type ie the hole is at bottom on one side and other hole
in middle on other side,will these type be ok or is a straight flow be better.
ive seen lots of ball type valves will this do the job or im better off with needle type.
also i think boozoid??? got a nickle plated type (im sure ive seen a post by him/her)are these ok to use ??
ive seen a few on fleabay mostly from china,ive asked a couple of them about the valves
and there seems to be a language barrier,one saying he didnt know what i mean by straight flow type and offset type,and another gave me a link to airline connectors saying these are compression fittings

ive tried valves online but their price has shot up to £19 then theres vat on top plus £12.50 delevery (i knew i should have got one when they were cheep )

whats your thoughts on the valves ive mentioned or is there another place/options

From my research on HD forum.. nickel plated is preferable to brass as it is impervious to booze.


The ones I used are about £3 delivered, dirt cheap. I used one for cooling coil and one for product takeoff.

They are an offsett type. needle valve of sorts (basicly a sharpened 3mm shaft)... they do not have any synthetic valve seat material, they are metal to metal. Hence when fully shut they weap..I fixed this by a wrap of ptfe tape around the valve needle and this has worked perfectly OK. Due to the angle machined on the needle valve I suspect the fine..ness of adjustment is nowhere like a high psi model. But saying that I have managed with it perfectly fine.

I would suggest that a ball type valve would be a real pain to adjust with the sensativity required.

il wrap some ptfe tape on the rubber o-ring 6mm valve or i may look
into getting some silicon o-rings

Yep, those are the type I purchased. I just wrapped the needle valve and threads approaching the oring. No leaks.... the world is good...for £6

Ive been looking for a needle valve to slow down the water to my reflux coil but at the moment it's inline with my main condenser, I can't slow it all down but I found this valve, it's item 8825 on the page linked below.

It's 3 way valve but the needle only controls one leg so you can have water from your main condenser flowing through it, un-affected by the valve and the third output can be connected to the input of my reflux coil, it's for hose with an 8mm internal diameter, looks good to me

I have used the top one on the same page. Add 2 of male screw to compression female adaptors and you are good to go.
