Out of date turbo yeast
Just a quick question, I've got a 2 year out of date 23% turbo yeast pack, it states to only use brewing sugar, but I need to make a first wash just to put though a still I'm building, do you think it will still work with normal sugar?
I'm guessing it will still ferment

That depends on whether the yeast is still viable. The sugar won't make much difference. I'd have some other yeast on hand (bread yeast works well) in case the yeast is slow to come to life. I've purchased yeast that was not out of date and still not viable, so it does happen.

Hi,
Turbo,s have two components: yeast and nutrients.
Even if the dormant yeast has past the point of recovery, I think that there is a good chance that the nutrients will still be OK.
As Chill said if the yeast in the turbo packet does not revive, then the bakers yeast should make short work of the turbo,s nutrients.
