Don't try this at home...

Unless you are as stupid and cavalier as I am.

Had a mega brain fart last run. The usual routine is syphon the wash into another fermenter, pour into boiler, add conditioner, fit lid etc. plug in and while it heats up, make up a new wash.

Guess which step I forgot?

Yep, power on for about 5 minutes with the newly syphoned wash still on the floor. Plug out, lid off, wash in, lid back, plug in and nothing. Slid the boiler off the worktop enough to press the reset button, still nothing.

Google: As well as the reset button there is a non user replaceable thermal fuse that will melt if the reset button fails.

Wash out, boiler inverted, screwdriver and test meter. Both reset and thermal fuse open circuit. Some gentle persuasion got the reset conducting.

Wire cutters, and a 30A chocolate strip connector had it all testing ok. Tied up the connector to avoid heat.

Started run again, complete with wash lol and it went as usual. Phew!

Before anyone chides me too much, this is not the first safety circuit I have overridden on electrical equipment. I do understand why they are there and am fully aware once a safety circuit has been bypassed and I have never made the same brain fart mistake twice with electrical equipment.

This T500 is mine for ever now as imo it would be immoral for me to sell it on.

Moral: Don't be thinking of other things when setting up your run.
