not sure whats going on help please!

Postby curious.g710 » Sat Feb 13, 2016 10:50 pm

So i just recently purchased a t500 still (1600 watt) and followed the directions while setting up ran my first wash and everything came out just fine at 180 proof with a decent yield. The condenser was kept at proper temp the entire time as well

Problem is went to set up the still today and the pot will start to heat up but and you can slightly feel it on the sides as well as hear it starting up but 10 to 15 minutes later it cuts off, can't hear anything and it cools down. I have tried the reset button several times and the same thing happens every time

This is a brand new still any idea what the problem might be? any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome...

What a bummer...not a good start to your new hobby ???

Where did you buy the 500 from?? from your description of what happens I'd say it's the thermostat. I would phone the vendor and send it back, asking for it to be changed for a new one.
I tried to be normal once, worst two minutes of my life.

+1 thermostat.

Welcome to the forum. We can fix this along with many other things.

At a guess I would say this it out of warranty - yeah? Not too worry. There is a page I have seen all the spares for a T500 and I doubt it will be hideously expensive.

We are quite a handy bunch.. Or is that thirsty bunch :)

Read again Mash, it's a brand new still, only the second time of using.

I would definitely get it straight back to the vendor.

100 % agree GTF. Get it back to the supplier, if that is an option.

I just got the feeling it wasn't. Having spent a while on international forums I have learnt. A. Other countries consumer protection isn't as good as ours. B. There is brand new and brand new from a supplier with a warranty & proper backup.

Perhaps I gave over thought this...

I have the same problem after 1 hour, when it starts to boil
