Do you add salt to stripping run?

Read this.

When you do your stripping run, it can be beneficial to add some sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to the first-run alcohol, prior to the second run. As explained up in adding salt this will help clean up the taste greatly.

Hi Guest

As a general rule, no it's not worth it, it has been discussed in many forums over the years, the idea is the baking soda combines with some of the esters that are found in the heads cut, and in the process tuning them into salt which doesn't boil, there is some debate at the moment if it's best to add it to your low wines before a spirit run into your wash once it's finished, it's a way of reducing your heads cut and increasing the yield of the hearts cut.

Many have tried some with limited success.
