24 hour airing of final distillation

Read somewhere on this forum that its best to leave the final cut to air for 24 hours before filtering. Can`t find that article at this time. Is it really that important to do that before filtering it thru the essencia?

Yes. :) I air mine in large canning jars with a paper towel held over the opening with an elastic band. This allows the volatile compounds to evaporate off while preventing mass fruit fly suicides in the summer.

Thanks Chuck:

Okay, will let todays run air overnight. Put my stuff in a glass decanter and cheesecloth with an elastic band.

Just pointing out that a large surface area airs the spirit better/faster.
A decanter may not offer this?
I prefer to air on a sunny window cill, under an open window when this wonderful climate allows.
