Would just like to ans thanks to Almaanic and all on this forum for the knowledge and inspiration you guys have given me.
The wife got me an airstill for my birth week celebration.
used as par instructions ok ish not great.
I brew beer,wine,cider and my favorite mead.
Had some on the old format,ie take 1st 750mls dilute and filter.
Charged still with 4 litres at 30 pc. fores 50, head 3*200,hearts 4*200 Tails 4*200 don to 20pc as plan.
Now being a drunken old git who smokes like a trooper ie: no sense of smell or taste.
I lined all 12 jars in front and said tell me what you smell.
By damn it your spot on you lot.
Fores; Smelt of(cant tell you) nasty
Heads: Smelt of strong bubble gum.
Hearts: not much smell
Last hearts :not sure smell something different dad cant tell you what?
Tails : going from not as nice to nasty like dog smells or old damp somethings.
End result 1200 mls Hearts at 73pc.

Seriously I have learnt more in the last two weeks than i have in the previous six months!!
Still plan to buy a t500 mainly for the capacity,
but you have proved to me that the Airstll is a very competent piece of kit.

The guys here have taken a device intended for water distillation ( ) and evolved a process that goes spectacularly beyond what the manufacturer advocates. For those of us who aspire to bigger things, but can't justify the space/cost, the AirStill is a great piece of kit, and this forum is a bible. I am thankful that I found it when I did, and proud to be a part of it now - you never stop learning, and everyone here has something to contribute

I am struggling with that myself. I really really really really like the Air Still and how it works. Mine really has done some Hard graft. I like the fact I don't have to stand and watch it.
Have you considered a twin tub Air Still & a freezer, 25 L stripped in one run (ish)

Did you post here the results of your attempt at Jacking a wash Mash?
I haven't seen it yet, and can't find it using the search box.

Freeze and forget to a couple of days. Invert overnight drain which should be 9 -10 litres. Run in AS. I found there is nothing left in the ice - undetectable on the refracto. And the spirit yield was normal - saved me 5 runs.

I used youngs wide mouth fermenter into a clean builder bucket.

Now im hooked double distilled using the master plan.
See what you mean by tails may improve if aired.
Sometimes i add 1st jar even 2nd.
Remember the golden words, quality not quantity !!!
Love my airstill will never sell it, but have a T500 coming on Monday.
Leaning curve starts all over again, and only got to 2nd verse on the 1st machine.
Just love the results iam now getting and well worth the extra effort.
