After a long and lazy Scottish summer,(mostly rain), I am actively stillin' again.
Stocks are getting low.
Today, Yesterday now, saw a couple of lentil washes settle at .990.
The copper boil bits were cleaned and action stations are expected later today.

The last bag of Chateau Malt that I have been body swerving all summer is soon to be used.
Unsure why such activities are making me feel righteous, but there we go.

Just finished a Rum run. Ended up 12ltrs @55%
better off. Aging in 2lrt swing tops.
With 2tsp honey,3g coriander seeds and 30g
of USA Light oak to help the process.
10-12 weeks should be good :)

2 x airstill spirit runs gave 1.5 litres each of vodka at forty something percent.

Currently doing 1st stripping run on lazy rum which is a mix of molasses and dunder from cachaca.

Its not loads of dosh either.

I've just finished my first spirit runs trying this yeast and I have to say I'm impressed.

I can't remember exactly what I paid, but I'm guessing £3 so maybe £2 more than allinsons and lentils. Airstill with very conservative cuts and a load of heads and tails gave me 3 litres bottled and a half pint drunk using 45p a kilo lidl sugar, so a little bit above £1 a bottle.

I had low expectations but for whatever reason, the cut between hearts and tails is less smeared than a lentil wash imo. (could just be luck in a sample size of one)

Edit : one of my lovely neighbours in apartment building drinks tesco vodka in the 1.5L bottles, so I'm forever raiding the recycling for the bottles.

Thats the beauty of what we do,
Loads of fun and a cheap quality end
result.
Vodka star is very good. Try some Wheat
Vodka, You can use Wheat extract.

We possibly need a "Bin Diving" thread on here, as most of us will have a tale to tell about rescuing glassware. :D

Last distil today.
Promised HWMBO. Brew shed will be erected
on 1st Nov. Have a lot of clearing up to
do in spare room.
Brew shed is 12'x8' Her bit on the back
4'x8'. So quite a big one.
Will install electric and water and drainage.
All walls and ceiling 30mm Celotex covered in
3/8 ply.
Using new kitchen units with sink and will be
building my brew chest.
Incase your wondering, I'm just doing the paying
a clever pal doing all the work.
HWMBO just wants me outside to keep house tidy,
so all has been sanctioned.
Your thoughts help and guidance on anything missed
please gents.
IE What would you put in your Brew Shed ???

If I had a brew shed, the first thing I'd want would be Sky Q and plenty of entertainment available for the long spirit runs
