to stop copper mesh from touching the slant plates
guys before I start making the slots for the slant plates been
pondering about summat. is it worth drilling a couple of holes
just beneath the bottom slant plates or slots then either use
copper wire or a strip of copper to stop the copper mesh touching
the bottom slant plate or leave it

Re: to stop copper mesh from touching the slant plates
When I made my first boka, I didnt use anything, I was using ceramic Raschig rings as packing so I filled it upside down leaving a gap of a few inches, then turned it the right way up and give it a good shake to ensure there was a good gap, another time I pushed an SS scrubber up to the plates then filled with Raschig rings, today I have cut te column in half and fitted a 54mm joint, I don't use the raschig rings anymore, just fill the column with SS scrubbers then fit the boka top and seal it.

I had some copper wire from a twin & earth cable and just soldered it across in a mesh patern where I wanted the scrubber to come to, if you don't have something like that, cut some thin rings from a spare bit of pipe, open them up and solder them in.
Always give the hardest job to the laziest person because they will always find the easiest way to do it.
